Parents of Baby who Survived Abortion Decide to Give Him a Second Chance at Life

Baby Survives Abortion

A couple who had lost two babies due to kidney disease and damage got pregnant while on the birth control pill. Fear of losing another baby, they decided to terminate this third pregnancy and did so at 8 weeks. Shortly after the abortion, Jodie Percival of Nottinghamshire, England, felt a flutter near her stomach and the doctor informed her she was 19 weeks pregnant. The abortion, done so early, had missed the unborn baby. The hospital apologized for failing to kill the child and said it was a rare occurrence. The managing health editor for said it is actually quite common and the failed attempts can harm the baby.

Now, I cannot put myself in the place of a mother who has lost two babies. I'm sure it very difficult and quite devestating, but this is where faith comes in. To decide that a child's life is not worth the risk is to lack faith in God and hope in his love. This was the part that stunned me:

Another scan a week later confirmed the baby also had kidney problems, but doctors told the couple the baby was likely to survive, so they decided he deserved another chance at life.

THEY decided HE deserved another chance at life?!? Who were they to decide? THEY decided to have intercourse. God chose to honor their suggestive action with the blessing of a baby. They then chose to try to kill that child. The baby survives their attempted murder and they graciously decide to then let him live? Give me a break. So you have to survive an attempted murder before you deserve the chance to live? I realize no one can imagine the pain of losing a child but fear of the unknown or fear of pain is never an excuse to end the life of another human being.

In November, Baby Finley was born three weeks premature. He had minor kidney damage but is expected to lead a normal life. And if he is later diagnosed with terminal cancer or some other grave disease or bodily defect? Should he be terminated then too?

Such a sick society we live in. As Indiana Jones' father put it, "We are pilgrims in an unholy land."
