Small Successes

small_successes_badge-300x2321. Against the odds of being sick again and having no energy, I thoroughly cleaned the living room and dining room including cleaning all the cushion covers on the sofa (goodbye punch stain!) and shampooing the carpets.

2. On the back of #1 but an even bigger success for me: I handled it really well when Felicity smeared mashed potatoes onto my freshly polished table and when the girls crushed Sun Chips into my freshly shampooed and vacuumed carpet. It can easily upset and frustrate me to see something I, quite literally, just cleaned soiled but, by the grace of God, I've been really good this week about remembering that a home, clean or not, is to be lived in and when that home has a 3 year old and a 1 year old, lived in includes mess.

3. I finally got started fixing up the backyard. The area beneath the deck simply cannot grow anything and becomes mud everytime it rains. I finally put in a border around the muddy area and began filling it with stones. I need to get more stones before it is finished, but it is not an area either girl should be walking or playing in and it should help keep the mud from splashing up on the house or the air conditioner. I still have to finish filling in the stones, try to clean the air conditioner from all the caked on mud and grime and maybe plant something along the path, but digging the trench for that border was no easy task for a woman 7 months pregnant. In all it was about 19 feet long.

  1. You are a better woman than I- don't know if I would have handled the mashed potato and sunchips as well as you did.
God Bless- will keep you and your soon to arrive new baby in my prayers.

  2. Still praying for that baby :) And good for you on keeping your cool. Can I channel some of your patience? Man, being tired can affect my moods SO much!!!

Loved your update, and proud of all your successes! Thinking of you always!

Usually being tired will seriously affect my patience, mood and attitude. I generally really don't handle being overtired well. Hence the success and the fact I can think of no other reason than God's grace. A few months ago I was having a really difficult time with patience....namely, I had none. Things have definitely improved and I really can only point to an increase in frequency in Confession, which was my New Years' Resolution. I'm hoping I can keep it up in June/July when this baby arrives. Thanks and God Bless!
