And So It Begins....

Well, I can officially say I am in labor. I'm in early labor, but I am definitely dilating. So, it is just a matter of time. James is betting on tonight. I am pretty sure tomorrow will be the latest.

The kicker? James is sick. That lovely 24 hour bug Felicity had and then I had? It hit James last night. Hopefully, if I can hold off until tonight, he will be well enough to at least drive me to the hospital if I'm ready. Between his illness and my labor, I think we may break the DVD rule today....but, as the mom in labor....maybe I will pick the video.

Kathreja, thanks for the suggestion, but under the circumstances, I will have to just leave Father a notice on his facebook page for the time being.

UPDATE: Well, labor is definitely progressing. Although this morning it seemed to almost disappear on me, by lunchtime the contractions were picking up. I've been clocking them for about an hour now. They are still irregular varying from every 7 minutes to 5 minutes to 3 minutes and lasting anywhere from 20 seconds to 85 seconds. As is the way with my labors. Felicity's labor did this as well and when the contractions did become really consistent, I had an hour and a half before wanting to push, so I am dressed and ready to go when it seems close. And very few of the contractions with Felicity lasted more than a minute, so I am watching, waiting and timing.

James spent the morning in bed and even napped. He says he is feeling better and my dad drove back from a business trip this morning so they are now available to help with the girls.

UPDATE: 5:30pm: Well, the contractions continue to be about 5/6 minutes apart but they rarely last longer than 30 or 40 seconds. It seems labor is either stalling a bit or moving slowly for the time being. It hasn't stopped though. I took a walk to get the mail but that was as fruitless for labor as it was for any decent mail. I'll be keeping a close eye on the clock as the evening continues, but I'm kindof hoping, at this point, that maybe we can get the girls their dinner, their bath and into bed before I might have to leave for the hospital. Cecilia's been up since 5:30 this morning and I'm not sure how she would handle a late evening or mommy and daddy leaving at such an hour.

  2. I guess this is an instance of hoping things go slowly so James has time to recover rather than hoping for a speedy labor and delivery. Prayers for everything to go smoothly.

Much thanks. Fortunately James is feeling better after resting all morning and my dad made it back from Pittsburgh to help with the girls.

  4. I had a labor just like the one you are having with my second, Flower. I ended up having her the next day.

Take a nap and deal with it tomorrow.

Bless you. Prayers for your babe's gentle arrival.
