The Week without James, Part 1

I never go this long between posts, but I guess it has just been one of those months.

I had us all set up in the new home and fully stocked for James' trip to Italy. The week began well enough....

Cecilia moved up to a booster seat.

We gave a birthday party for Mr. Bear.

Elizabeth was so excited to be able to watch the pork loin and potatoes cook.

Our new bigger inflatable pool arrived and, with this summer heat, we wasted no time making use of it.
Even Elizabeth enjoyed some pool time with Mommy.

Everything was going very well, until....

On Sunday, July 25th, around 3:30pm, a sudden storm hit. It carried gusts up to 70 miles per hour, heavy rain, lightning and thunder. It lasted less than 30 minutes but when it was over, over 300,000 people were without power and many trees looked like these. These pictures I took on the 30 minute drive to Church monday morning that otherwise would have taken 5 minutes. The heat index that day was 106 and we prepared for a very rough night's sleep (or lack thereof).
