A Hairy Situation

When people find out I have three daughters I get comments like:

"Wait for those phone bills!"

"You'll never get to use your bathroom!"

and

"Oh, think of the makeup!"

I have to kindof laugh. I don't wear makeup. I don't own any. And, as far as I'm concerned, until the girls are 18, it isn't even an issue.

I've never gotten a facial.

I don't get my hair colored, permed or anything else at any salon. James gives me a trim when I ask for one.

I don't do manicures or pedicures.

The phone bills.... well, my dad could tell stories about me and phone bills, but that is such a long way off it is hard for me to understand how anyone could look at a 5 year old, a 3 year old and a 1 1/2 year old and think of phone bills.

But there is one "Ah!" about having three girls that no one yet has lamented to me.

The hair!

I have medium to long hair (depending on how recently it has been trimmed) and we don't want our girls to have short hair. In fact, we have never given any of our girls a single haircut, though the possibility has come up. Cecilia actually gets upset if we suggest it. She refuses for us to trim her hair. I don't mind that, but I do wish she would let me braid it so it wouldn't get quite so tangled. She refuses to let me braid it. Felicity's is not quite so long yet where it gets many knots and Elizabeth's is just creeping down her shoulders. But the hair is beginning to add up. Just speak to my vacuum. Either of my vacuums. I have to keep an eye on them or they get jammed with hair.

So, I was rather excited when Heavenly Homemaking introduced me to Lilla Rose's hair clips and, after ordering two for myself, both Cecilia and Felicity really took to them. They both wanted to wear them. We have had to reiterate that they are not toys and it is true the girls usually don't wear them during the week, but I enjoy wearing mine on Sundays and am happy when they let me put one in their hair for Church. Felicity's hair is still a bit thin and even the smallest size clip has a little trouble staying in, but she is always growing and, hopefully, with pretty clips to use, the girls will sometimes let me do something with their hair besides chase them with a brush. :)

  1. My girls always wanted Rapunzel hair. I love little girls with long hair and I usually prefer mine to be long too. We have problems with clogged drains because of all the hair. A couple years ago my girls and I all donated our hair to Locks for Love. We are all getting to that point again, very soon. Love the clips. They are beautiful!
