Seven Quick Takes

≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ 1 ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈

I can't believe we've completed 12 weeks of school already. The way I've scheduled things, that puts us 1/3 of the way through the school year. In the middle of October. Never fear though... I'm kindof expecting our new arrival to delay our start after Christmas, so I intentionally planned buffer time.

So far Cecilia is doing very well. Other than our Science lab to use a telescope (I'm waiting for it to be darker earlier) and our study of Tanzania, we are completely on track and she is learning well. She is also working her way through reading all the books on the bookshelves I set aside for her. Add in gymnastics and American Heritage Girls and she has a nicely balanced week of school, activity, socializing and play time.

Felicity began Kindergarten this year. We are taking it slow and easy, like I did with Cecilia though she raced through her Social Studies and Science books (they are more basic and fun I think). She is slowly working on her numbers and has completed through lesson 28 in the Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons book. She actually seems to take to reading a bit more naturally than Cecilia even did. I am only doing 2 lessons a week with her but I think she could move faster if I was up for it. She is also in gymnastics and American Heritage Girls, she she also has a nicely balanced week for her age.

Elizabeth, being only three, really is still working by playing though she has picked up numbers 1 through 10 and her alphabet, has mastered her colors and has some basic shapes down.

Teresa is my dare devil but has taken to entertaining everyone during school... by dancing on the table.

She is also the most vocal child I've had this young. She has more words down than any child I've had at 18 months. She is also very social, much like Cecilia was, to the point where she will walk up to complete strangers, wave and say, "Hi" and has even hugged some kids we don't know. And ever since we video chatted with James on the computer, any picture on my computer invokes a happy, "Hi!"

I have been making some good progress on our home atrium as well.

I completed the Kingdom of God and the Mustard Seed work

I completed the Kingdom of Heaven and the Grain work.

Cecilia was so excited to plan a grain seed. Now if it will just grow. I am horrible with plants, but here is hoping!

And I finished the Kingdom of God and the Leaven work.

They are relatively simple works to be sure, but still it is nice to get the materials off my project table and the parable works into the atrium. Elizabeth particularly liked this one.

I've also made significant progress with The Cenacle work but it isn't completely finished yet. I'll get pictures of that one up once it is done.

I am 28 1/2 weeks pregnant. I am tired. And while my birthday isn't til next week, since James will be working all day on my birthday, we are celebrating my birthday this weekend. So, I will simply end this quick takes with this...

Except this weekend it will be me in my chair. :)

More Quick Takes at Jen's!

  2. The picture of your daughter in your chair reminds me of my spot on the couch when I'm pregnant; if anyone else sat in the place on the couch I would stretch out my tired, pregnant body, my children would promptly tell them to move, lol!
