The Year of Faith

On October 11, 2012, began the Year of Faith as proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI. Pope Benedict XVI has called for this special year as an invitation to a “an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord, the one Saviour of the world” (Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei, 6).

Many people I know are exciting and planning what they will do to honor the Holy Father's requests to share the faith and deepen an understanding of the faith so as to better live the faith.

Certainly an apt call for our times.

I've felt like I wanted to do something for the Year of Faith but was at a loss for what I should do.

Faith is a gift, so, other than praying for my readers, I cannot simply give you the gift of Faith. That is up to God. But, maybe I can help someone understand the Faith a little more than they did before.

However, I'm 7 months pregnant and will be adding baby #5 to our family sometime during the Christmas Season, so I want to be practical and reasonable on what I can do sanely. I think one topic per month is doable so here are my hopes and plans for the Year of Faith:

October: God the Creator
November: Jesus, The Incarnation
December: Jesus, The Savior
January: Mary the Mother of God
February: The Holy Spirit
March: The Church & The Pope
April: Baptism, Confirmation and Anointing of the Sick
May: The Priesthood, The Mass, The Eucharist and Reconciliation
June: Marriage and Sex
July: Freedom
August: The 10 Commandments
September: The Beatitudes
October: Life
November: Hell, Heaven & Purgatory

Now, for my disclaimer. I will only be writing on the Roman Catholic faith and I will welcome honest questions and do my best to answer them but I will expect any comments to be respectful and charitable.
