Just this past week for the first time we spotted some Purple Martins:
The almost look like little blackbirds or miniature crows and we had about half a dozen at one point.
But once in a while you can catch a dark bluish-purple around their shoulders and necks.
This one seems to have found the value in returning to our feeder during the snowstorm.
Another newby showed up a few weeks ago but I had the hardest time getting any pictures of him!
The Red-Bellied Woodpecker. This one is a female.
Whereas the male has a solid red cap, this one has just a bit above her beak and then on the back of her head but white in between.
She is a quick thing. I tried I don't know how many times to get a picture of her and it took me weeks before she wouldn't fly off before I could even focus on her!
And finally, arriving only in the last few days, one of my favorites, the Mourning Dove:
