We began January celebrating our 15th Anniversary with a special dinner at a restaurant I've wanted to try for over a year. So pretty! And yummy!
We blessed our door for the Epiphany:
We also got back into the swing of school. Since Felicity and Elizabeth were beginning a unit on World War II, we visited a local Jewish Museum:
And then we went to the Holocaust Museum in Chicago:
We also watched Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful, and Grave of the Fireflies.
Cecilia began taking weekly drawing classes (I'll see if she will let me photograph any of her pictures later).
And James and I went to the symphony to hear Shostakovitch's Festival Overture, works by Prokofiev, and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.
Unfortunately, we then got hit with the flu, everyone except James.
Teresa and Thomas developed ear infections.
How to keep the ones recovering from disturbing the sleeping sick ones:
Cecilia spent her 14th birthday throwing up, so my parents sent her flowers snd bug stuffed bear Anastasia tried to claim.
It took about 3 weeks to work through the house. Before I was sick and in between taking care of the sick ones, I worked on moving the oldest 3 girls to their own bedroom.
And then cleaning up Brigid and Teresa's mess of a bedroom.
Once I had the flu, I slowed down and did my last lego set.
While we had the flu, our dishwasher died, so we replaced that as well.
Needless to say, January was a very busy and productive month, but also a long one, particularly the last two weeks. We survived though and were thrilled to get to February. Here's a few more photos from January:
